I Hate Running

I Hate Running

Run better by lunging more?

I hate running. I don't enjoy it, and I never liked how I felt afterward.

I'd get leaner, sure, but I'd also feel flat. My muscles didn't look as full, and I didn't feel nearly as strong.

That's one of the biggest reasons I started experimenting with walking lunges.

I wanted a conditioning that made me more durable and feel more like an athlete.

But here's the important part: I'm not telling everyone to stop running.

So, if you're a runner, run. What I am saying is this: Walking lunges can make your running better.

Think of lunges as your strength and durability work. They'll help build stronger legs, improve endurance, increase connective tissue strength, and make you more resilient over time.

If I were coaching a runner, here's where I'd start:

  • Run 4 days per week
  • Lunge 400-800 meters 3 days per week

If you're really curious, take a month. Lunge 400–800 meters every day for 30 days.

Then go back to running and see how you feel.

Do you feel stronger? More stable? More durable?

That's the experiment.
