Muscle Minute #111: Get Comfortable with Discomfort
"Get comfortable with being uncomfortable if you want to change your life."
It’s raining, and it’s time to lunge 800m. I used to think, "Damn, this is going to suck." Now, I think, "Oh, I love this. It's separation time."
It’s the same circumstance but with a whole different outlook. I go from thinking "I have to do this" to "I get to do this." That mindset shift is key to keeping yourself on the path.
For example, I don’t have to eat green beans—I get to eat green beans. I’ve said this many times, but I’ve always just focused on asking myself, "What do I have to do?" and then I just do it.
I got comfortable being uncomfortable because I wanted to become a machine. I knew that by doing so, I’d have a chance at being good at what I do—and maybe, one day, great.
