#220 Temple Not a Woodshed
Funny, But Also True
How do you treat your body and mind?
Do you try to treat them like a temple or like a damn woodshed?
It’s imperative that you give your body & mind the highest care and respect. In turn, you will be able to maintain a higher standard in the long term.
How Do You Treat Your Temple?
What do you think of when I say the word “temple?”
Temples are a place where people worship, right? They’re a place where you go with your best clothes on. A temple is the place you go to work on yourself. It's the place you go to hopefully live better – no matter what religion you may be.
Just Like Your Car
Here’s something that I used to ask my clients all the time…
Do you get your oil changed every 3,000 miles? Do you get your tires rotated? Do you wash your car once a week? Do you make sure it has gas?
Most of them said Yes. It turns out that these clients were treating their body worse than they were treating their car.
You Only Get One Body & Mind
You only get one.
Let’s say that when you’re born you get a brand-new Chevy Silverado. By the time you reach adulthood, you’ve racked up a hundred thousand miles. Then, suddenly, you load it up with 200, 300, 400 pounds of wood. Your truck then must work harder to operate the same way. It’s harder on the shocks. It’s harder on the gas mileage. It’s harder on the long-term durability.
The body & mind are no different. If you treat your body & mind the same way, then you are going to get a less than desirable result.
We only get one. We can’t trade it in. Treat your body & mind like a temple, not a woodshed.
