#289 My Energy is Different
Why is it different?
My energy is different because why I do what I do is very important to me. It’s not about having the fancy car or social media clout. For me, it’s about impacting future generations.
Once I tapped into my real reason behind why I do what I do, my energy shifted in a big way. Doing the work and digging into your core is the only way to truly find out what that is. Avoiding the work will only leave you wondering.
What matters to you?
All the external haters and comments don’t matter. None of it. Why you do what you do is the only thing matters.
It started in the coal mine to save up money to move to Columbus to open a gym. Doing this simply gave me the opportunity to succeed. There were no assurances or guarantees. It was trial by fire.
Sure, I enjoyed certain milestones and sometimes used material items as a motivator, but in the end, it always came back to generational change within my family. That’s what matters most to me.
What energy are you bringing?
My energy is different because the fire doesn’t go out.
What kind of energy are you bringing to the table every day? Do you know where you’re going? Do you know what you’re working towards? What matters most to you?
If you’re struggling to answer these questions, that’s okay, but you best start developing some answers.
The ups & downs of the process
If I stick to and trust in the process, I know that none of the dumb shit that pops up along the way is going to matter in the long run. The obstacles and other hard things you have to deal with during your life are merely speed bumps.
The question is, “What are you going to do when they pop up?” Are you going to figure out the way through, or are you going to fold? Are you going to stick to your habits and process, or are you going to deviate off the path?
The choice is entirely yours, and yours alone.
Why are you reading this?
In a world where there’s an endless amount of fake and fabricated shit, it can be hard to find real people. And that’s why I believe you’re still reading this article. Being authentic and real is important to me. I’m not putting up a front or only showing you a highlight reel. I’m going to show you the highs, the lows, and the real me.
Take the shots. Get back up. Ball out. Keep moving. Sign up for the long game. Eating the shots and doing the work produces a supreme level of confidence that can only be earned.
What are you in for?
One of the best conversations I ever had was when I went to breakfast with Arnold Schwarzenegger after a MuslcePharm fell apart. He said to me, "It's all how you respond, Cory. It's all how you respond." Are you a one & done, or are you in this for the long haul?
My stepdad used to tell me all the time, “You better bring a fucking lunchbox because I’m not going to run out of gas.” That’s how I’ve felt ever since I came out of the coal mine.
