Decision & Discipline – aka goal setting and goal getting.
Having a definitive purpose that drives you forces you to make a decision. What are you going to do? Then you make the decision. From there, it all comes down to taking action. If no action is present, then it’s more than likely not going to come true.
Decision + discipline is powerful. That’s where goal setting turns into goal getting.
There’s never going to be a shortage of people that talk about the things that they want to do. They talk plenty but are always struggling because they never can back up what they’re saying with real action. On the other hand, you have people that are super disciplined, but don’t know what they want. What side of the equation are you on? Have you experienced both sides?
What’s Your Perfect Day?
What’s your perfect day?
What’s your setup look like?
What do you really want for yourself?
Next step: DECIDE. Decide that that’s how you want your life to be. Once you make the decision, calculate the discipline required to make that shit happen.
And guess what? It’s fucking difficult. You’re not entitled to any timeframe. No one is going to put you on. You inject discipline into your life so that when the opportunities come by you can seize them.
Success & Failure
It all comes down to the decisions you make. Success and failure? Success is the result of many positive decisions that create positive momentum. Failure is the product of many negative decisions that create negative momentum. Simple as that. Sure, you’re going to fail or fumble from time to time, but you’re really just learning what not to do in the future. It’s crossing another thing off the list that didn’t work.
I decided a long time ago that this was the way I wanted to operate. I can think back to specific points along my career where I made conscious decisions, backed by action & discipline, to attempt something. Key word attempt. I say this word because you’re not entitled to anything. That’s not how the world works most of the time. It’s more than likely going to happen when you don’t expect it.
You follow a process of discipline for an opportunity to create something great.
How Bad Do You Want It?
I’ve seen direct results from making strong decisions backed by intentional action and discipline.
What am I willing to do?
What am I going to do to get to that point?
From there, make the decision and sign up.
Is there just one path to get to where you want to go? Maybe not, but most people know that if you want abs, then you have to train every day, eat well 95% of the time, do the conditioning, and take your supplements religiously. You must have everything firing together. How bad do you want those abs? Are you willing to instill the discipline required and put in the work?
How You Get There
Make the decision.
Inject the discipline.
Decision without discipline doesn’t work. It’s short-lived and unsustainable. Your decisions must be pinpointed. The discipline must be relentless. That’s how you eventually get to where you want to go.
Nothing is guaranteed. No one is entitled to a timeline. The only thing we control is the effort we put in every day. It’s up to us whether or not to show up every day.
