Figure it out
Figure it out. Injuries, business, relationships, family problems, etc. You have no choice but to figure it out. Take my jumping quest, for example. Going into it, I realized that I had some serious issues with my knee tendons. They were weak, couldn’t transfer power, and they caused me a lot of pain.
My former attempt at jumping was about 20 weeks long. Guess what? I had to quit because it was messing up my squat game. It was messing up my lunges. It was messing up my quality of life because they hurt so bad. As soon as I backed off from jumping, all the pain went away. I couldn't stand it not being able to figure it out.
Once the pandemic and quarantine happened, I thought to myself, “I have no choice now. I want to be able to do this. I need to figure it out." If there’s something you can’t figure out, treat it like as a non-negotiable. Doing this forces you to figure it out, no matter what. Explore different resources and find the solution.
Put the absolute on it. Do I sometimes procrastinate? Of course. Do I push things off? Yes. Everyone does this to some extent, but when you come to the fork in the road, you have to challenge yourself. It’s exactly what I did with my knees. It’s what I’ve done with my businesses.
Start to Think
The absolutes spark fucking change. It’s what I do. It’s what I do with my team. We push ourselves. We go to the next level because of it. Make up your mind. Leave no stone unturned. YouTube, books, technique, whatever it takes. I’ve ran into so many different scenarios throughout the course of my career. Once I’ve made up my mind, it’s a fucking wrap. It’s a wrap because I’m willing to do what others aren’t. When you go there, everything changes.
If we truly want to get better, we all know what's standing in the way. We might dodge it. We might procrastinate. But we know it's there. So, if you see the pieces not lining up, piece it together and figure it out. You have no choice.
