As I write this - I have been off social media for 78 days. Deleted everything off of my phone and I personally have not logged into a single app.
I decided 78 days ago to let my team post what I approve and to give me feedback on progress. I am able to share my touring and projects and life with my fans - yet keep my head clear and not feed into the temptation to be sucked into the negative loops of reading the comments from trolls and haters.
Since being off the internet I have focused more on the tasks in front of me. Reading more, listening to podcasts, writing, talking to the people in my life that I care about.
There is so much more outside of social media. While it can be a great thing for businesses and keeping up with old friends, it can also feed us moments of frustration, depression, and inadequacy.
Not everything we see on the internet is real, we must remember that. So shut your phone off for a bit - call your parents, take your dog for a walk, throw a football with your child, eat dinner with a friend, read a book. Do something real.
